Despite being founded in Iowa, our publication's roots are very much in Portland, Oregon. This is where the inception of the project began back in 2019, so it only made sense to launch where it all started.

In October of 2024, just a month before WTP's website went live, a super rad new magazine shop, Chess Club, opened it's doors in downtown Portland. This spot is masterfully curated and leads with a super clean and intentional aesthetic. Shop co-owner, Andrew, upon learning of WTP over the holiday break, invited us to pop-up for the launch of our first issue.

The art gallery-esque space lended itself to our installation of 200 digital illustrations of all unique outfits from our founder, Colin Behr's two years of no purchases. An immersive close up view that paid homage to the years that led to our magazine framework.

Artwork, magazines, music, beverages and snacks alongside an energetic PDX crowd kept vibes heightened for three straight hours on the afternoon of Saturday February 8th. People got to see WTP001 in hand for the first time and chat with Colin about the inception and backstory of the publication.

We're so thankful for Chess Club's hospitality and support. For those of you in Portland, we left behind a handful of our First Edition Issue 1 copies for single purchase at the shop. This is the only place you will be able to purchase a single magazine without signing up for an annual subscription. Make sure to scoop yours while they are still available.
